Ao Whisky is One of a Kind

I finally had an opportunity to try Ao Whisky. Ao is a blended whisky that is produced by Suntory. It features ingredients from five of the world’s top whisky-producing regions: the United States, Scotland, Canada, Ireland, and of course, Japan. Speaking of which, staying true to the Japanese palate, Ao is a light, easy-to-drink blend; but be careful because it clocks in at 43% ABV.

The bottle is interesting in that it has five defined corners, each of which represents the global regions that were selected to produce this blend. Likewise, the name ‘Ao’ means “blue” in English, referring to the vast ocean that connects us all.

Ao Whisky is currently only available in Japan. However, this global blend is the first of seemingly many more to come. Indeed, Forbes says it’s “..set to change the industry.” Hmm…
